The Basics

We're so excited to 3D print with you! To cover material costs, the Library charges 25¢ per gram of filament used in your 3D print, including any filament used in aborted or flawed prints. This must be paid in cash on pick-up. At this time, we cannot accept check or card payments.

Please provide us with the link to your 3D Printable design. Remember to make all designs shared publicly so that we may download the design for printing. Please note At this time we can only accept links to designs hosted on 3D printing sites like Tinkercad, Thingiverse, Cults, Yeggi, and MyMiniFactory. We cannot accept files sent via file sharing sites like Google Drive or Dropbox due to security restrictions.

Quality*

Quality determines the thickness of the layers of plastic in your print - thin layers produce a smoother, higher quality print, but they take much longer. This matters because Library limits print times to 5 hours.

Infill*

To save time and plastic, most 3D prints are not solid objects, but instead a solid shell filled with some form of grid pattern in the center. The density of this pattern is called infill. For most projects, 20% infill is a good balance of strength and speed.

Other

Supports*

Supports generate scrap plastic scaffolding of various forms that help your model keep its shape as it prints. Because they take time and filament and must be cut away after printing, won't add supports unless they're necessary, but if you'd rather us not print at all if supports will be necessary, let us know here! Please note: a type of base support material called a raft is required for all Library 3D prints to help ensure surface adhesion. This material is generally easy to remove, but the cost will be added to you total.
